History
Funny how things seem to happen as they have before.
No matter what happens, humans are the same, before Pearl Harbor,
before the LA Riots, Watts or Compton, before Vietnam, before R.M Nixon
before September 11th, and before this evening; and the same will betomorrow
and maybe until we evolve into forms of energy. People tend to ignore the similarities
of the mistakes of the past with the mistakes of today. Example the Maginot Line,
the Germans went around the wall in the Great War and funny enough they went around it in WWII.
Who could have foreseen that?
Just finished watch The US v Lennon, funny how similar the actions and statements made then by the government are to those made currently.
Who could have foreseen this?

This is a new kind of war "they" say, uhmm seems very similar to the type of action taken by
many Rebels against Empires as far back as there is history. We just have more Press than the Romans, Egyptians, English, etc, etc, etc.....
People live and die, people seek some sort of contentment, even in misery many find contentment, some want answers, some are happier with ignorance. People are people so how can it be....

If people believe it is important to kill over the NAME of a "God", rather than the principles, then how different are we from when these books were handed down from the Heavens?

What motivated us then motivates us now, Generally the 7 Deadly's: Pride, Hubris and Greed mostly. Or they all play an equal part ?

What is my over all point? Not sure. Any solution? No, not today.

Turnout update

At noon, here's the turnout skinny:

Turnout is high in the 4th District corridor, as expected. Council races may be driving turnout as much as the mayor's race. High turnout here is believed to be good news for Mark Funkhouser, Jim Glover, and, to some degree, Al Riederer.

Lots of electioneering and signs outside popular polling spots.

Turnout is light on the east and south sides. That could be a problem for Al Brooks, although some expect a later-arriving turnout in his strongest wards.

Northland turnout appears about average or just below. John Fairfield has apparently not motivated a huge turnout on his behalf; also, Becky Nace needs help from the north (where Jeff Roe has contacts) to have any chance at all.

There are minor glitches with the voting equipment -- some of the touch screens are still struggling. Most voters, though, are comfortable with the machinery -- less so with new polling places, for some.

Mayors Forum, Final one

Liberty Memorial, people love phalic momuments

Katherine Shields, once again, is the only one that has actually done anything and having a Green City is the answer to every thing. From reading to children to knowing about crime, boy does she.
Alvin Brooks believes parents have to buy school vouchers. He is running a Bon Dole campaign, elect me because, I have been around forever; but Dole did things
Jim Glover holds his stance that fixing potholes fixes everything.
Chuck Eddy, thinks things in Kansas City are going well.
Becky Nace, is the only one who has voted for anything.
Stan Glazer, had to defend his idea for the Observation wheel, his numbers are a bit off, but if he can get private money to pay for it-- Why not? He deserves a special office. He is always good for some laughs and light moments, intended or not. All but offered an endorsement to Funk.
John Fairfield I have no idea what he had to say, he was talking about something, but....
Albert Reiderer just always seems pissed off at somebody or something; Funkhouser a good bit.
Janice Ellis wants to audit everything, and cites her Compact for Kansas City, and how well Atlanta has dealt with.......One day she may be mayor.
Henry Klein has progressed a good bit during this campaign, he should run for City Council first, and be a good candidate down the road.
Mark Funkhouser, laughed at the candidates ignorance, as he tends to do a decent bit, he was even offered a possible job by Stan, Glazer said he would hire Funk to run the City if elected.
After half the candidates talked about needing more AUDITS, he rolled his eyes and suggested that the Candidates actually read the 200 something audits he have written.
Clearly I favor Funk, I volunteer for him; but this city is in desperate need of somebody that understands the finances and dept that Kansas City.
There are candidates with potential; we actually need somebody who is ready NOW.

Oh, and John DiCapo must have had something to do again, Yet to appear at a forum
what is the point of him running, just to say he once ran?

So tonight I was watching Chalie Rose

As interesting as that used to be, it bas become rather painful of late. Seems too often, maybe since he was put om 60minutes a few years ago, he seems more interested in having a guest and interviewing himself; but as usual I digress.

So Charlie had the out going Iranian embassador to the U.N. he happened to point out that the serial numbers that were noted by the top notch Weapons Intelligence officers in the US, were in a method only used in the US.
Far beit for the Bush Presidency to lie, but Javad Zarif pointed out that only in the US is the month used ahead of the day for dates. ie in the US it is mm/dd/yyyy, the rest of the world dd/mm/yyyy.

So not that I am a full fledged believer in the film Loose Change, look it up. This administration sure gives reason to wonder

Stan glazer, "Candidate" for Kansas City Mayor, has backed a new attraction for the Kansas City River front. He wants a $100 million Observation Wheel-- which is projected to draw up to 2 million people a year. This works because Stan is a side show act in Kansas City Politics. Hey, I think he makes it fun; but a guy that considers 40% of the last election a victory, when no one else ran against the incumbent Kay Barnes,....... well that comes out to about 8,000 people out of 450k, voted for him.

Stan and Clay Chastain should just open a Mi-Town amusement Park, I voted for the damned Gondola, just to stick it to the City. I think Chuck Eddy should join in with some BUMPER CARS-- Cause he is a big fatty, but worse he is a slimy Bastard

SIZE MATTERS

Kansas City, MO is TOO BIG.

The services needed are never going to be met: Police, Schools, Roads, Light rail, etc... Especially if th City continues to give away the tax base of Downtown.
I have spoken with Police Officers who believe they have too much ground to cover.
We see everyday that the roads are garbage, as well as the sewer sytem; which does plenty of damage to the roads.
We should seriously consider letting some land go. Maybe keep it so the Airport is in the limits; but why does it matter if it is not. Maybe we will lose some Fountains and recognition for being soooo Big. Who cares, take care of the things that actually matter to attract ans retain business and residents, schools, services, crime, even development.

Boston, MA is rather small, not many people live in Boston propper, maybe a million . They live in the surrounding areas 2+million.

KC needs to stop tying to keep up wit the sprawl and take care of the core of the CITY, in order to make any improvements.

As well as KKFI broadcast quality is, if you are interested in Politics, it was much better to be there; at UMKC. The 12 candidates addressed issues from TIF to Environmental issues, including Sewer repair, light Rail and “Green” Building Codes as well as Crime and a Living Wage.

The most Interesting aspect was watching the body language of each Candidate. The Front Runners seemed a bit irritable that they had to share time with so many pretenders; Funkhouser, Klein and Riederer most notably. Funk was rather antsy and never started his comments with an intro, he does have a distinct deep voice, but… Henry Klein looked bored and annoyed. Riederer was also squirming in his seat, looking for any opportunity to attack Funk or mention Leadership.

The Candidates that seemed weakest are Nace, Shields, God love him Alvin Brooks these candidates either had not much for substantial input or seemed a bit lost in the discussion. Granted Brooks was at a far end and knows he has a good block of votes regardless of what he says, but he should remain Mayor Pro-Tem.

The Middle of the Pack: Glover, Fairfield, Eddy, Ellis Glover seemed to have the Best of this Group and I might but him in the first group, (?)

Had good ideas and input, but seemed a bit under the weather and arrived during the second round of questions. Janice Ellis carried herself well, had input and was prepared, impressed having not heard her before’; but she will not get there, yet.

And then there is Stan Glazer, being Stan. Every election needs someone like Stan. He is a BS check for the others, even though he knows he won’t win he does add something to a debate.

When the field thins, Shields should step out, Klein, Funkhouser, Riederer- for the Republicans, and Glover should prove to be the real candidates; but Brooks will sneak in there out of respect and the African-American vote.

The Entertainment was with Funkhouser, he brought no notes, spoke loud and frank, he was repeatedly attacked by Riederer—seems as the have history.

Klein was the only person on the stage that realized that the audience did not know what PIAC (?) was and explained, citizen participation in development.

He made a remark about how often LEADERSHIP was thrown around.

Nace, Fairfield and Shields had nothing to add; but that did not stop them.

Just think there should be a little disclosure as to who these people work for, or with.
It is fine if you have no contact with any Candidates or Amendments and you just want to
slander everybody; BUT if YOU are related to a potential candidate, or you work or Volunteer for a Candidate. THAT should be disclosed.

Penalties?

For any one who enjoys sport, you have to accept the way the ball bounces; but the AFC Championship Game was tilted toward the Colts. The NFL wants Peyton Manning to win the big game, so he can have even more commercials.

Cheap penalties against the Patriots, flagrant fouls not called against the Colts. That is the way it goes sometimes, but.....

Yes I am a Pats fan and a little disappointed, but oh well that's what happens. I can't stand the "FANS" that call into radio shows and bawl and whine about this and that.

I also don't believe in citizens paying for Stadiums, so as well as being a born Patriots fan, They play the game right. On and off the field. Their/Our Billionaire does not ask the City , County or State to help cover the expenses for a multi million dollar revenue source.

In fact because The Patriots , Robert Kraft, found his own money for his stadium, he makes all the money, they control every dime that goes in and out. Th New England Patriots are one of the most Profitable franchises in Professional Sports.

If the Chiefs sell out every game since......?....why can't they pay for the improvements, if they want a roof, let them pay for it.

The Cheifs and Royals do little, in comparison, for Kansas City, sure they read to kids hear and there, but what about economic development?? Those organizations have done nothing to bring business to the area around the Stadium Complex, aside from maybe a Hooters and Strip Clubs.

TIFS ARE A WASTE

Currently Cities across the country, Kansas City, Missouri included, are competing not only with other domestic locations they are now faces with the reality of the Worldwide economy. American cities are competing with other countries to attract and retain firms looking or the best situation they can negotiate. Very often American cities are offering tax breaks with may never be turned into a net gain for the community.

There is a near epidemic of attracting firms for the sake of having the firms, while there is a give away of the tax base, thus negating any real benefit. It is similar to individuals extending their credit for the sole purpose of having possession.

Having big name firms and state of the art stadiums and arenas, creates name recognition for the city; but the needs of the community are not met, rather they are ignored and at best put on the back burner.

Thanks to Mayor Kay Barnes, our City has lots of new shiny buildings; but what do we gain when there are tax deferments for decades a pop. It is very similar to the problem communities create when they bring in a WAL-MART, Big impressive building, but an enormous tax loss.

I heard one candidate for Mayor, forgot which one, maybe Funkhouser, that Kansas City has lost BILLIONS; due to these TIFs and deferred payments. While our schools, Streets and Art community are among the worst funded in America.

Thanks Kay for all the pretty buildings, I am sure her next job will be in the real state or development field, I am sure she will do well for herself with that as well.

It might just be me; but it seems as every time there is a stiff wind 250,000
people in the Saint Louis area lose power for a week, usually when it hot as hell
or colder than a witches tit. What the hell is wrong with, is it, Ameron???
What ever happened to the open market deregulated utilities market????
Remember deregulation, it was supposed to open up competition allow more companies into the game and improve customer service. YEAH that's what it was for and that is how it has worked out right????

Since the Lovely Reagan through Clinton Republican era the industries that have been deregulated have experienced a lot of economic growth, but there has been a dramatic reduction of firms.

Consolidation and mergers, job cuts, reduced customer service reduced responsibility.

SO WHY THE HELL ARE THE PEOPLE OF SAINT LOUIS NOT OUT IN THE STREETS EVERYDAY, OR WHY DO THEY BOTHER TO PAY THE ELECTRIC BILL
They need to have a massive boycott until that shitty Company improves the service lines so they may be able to support more than 5 birds per 100 feet.

No power when it is sub freezing that is criminal; but do you think anything will do anything against them??? Doubt it.

Three days after the bombings, crashes, terrorism, etc… The World has not changed the World never does, maybe people have a different focus for now; but people live and the World always goes on. The birds still sing, the butterflies still glide through today’s cruel breeze, dogs still need to go out in the morning and be fed.

The World never stops rotating and growing People in the World still need food, shelter, love and hope. America is not the World. People are not the World. Tragedy is not the World. The World is hope and growth.

Love and Logistics
John said all you need is love, but that is not always the case.
Some times there are obstacles that are unavoidable during
a certain point. Such as job transfers, certain family obligations
or waiting for them to separate from the ex. These things can
sometimes be worked thru an amount of patience, co-operations
or the painful need to just wait out the difficulties.
The point is that LOVE is not so simple, and not always
enough to work thru the amount of Love that is shared
between the two partners.
What is the answer? In my situation it was patience,
and a certain amount of painful seperation and trust
that she was sincere and she would return as soon as
the clouds of the difficulties cleared. At a certain point
we must rely on the amount of EMOTIONAL CAPITAL
, which has been invested. If it was/invited one should allow
for time and conations to work them self.

But maybe the case is that the separation is too painful.
And that penitence can ruin everything, which has been INVESTED.
ONE MAY END UP BANKRUPT OF THE LOVED ONE AND A TREMENDUS
amount of regret for the actions by either partner.
So I have realized that if is best for one partner to oblige any
request required by the other and trust that the time away
will make the relationship stronger, after the time away.
Chances are that will be the case.

So Notlancealot has lived up his name, ruining hat could have been
been one of those relationships that last for a very long time
and left with a good amount of shame and regret of his actions.
Knowing the chances of recovery SLIM TO NONE, LEANING
LIKE THE PIZZA TOW TOWAR NEVER.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF ONE DAY? A whole life can change with what happens in any segment of those 24 hrs. How F'd is that when you really think about it. If you delayed a bit longer, you might be hit by a car ( or hastened for that matter). That One pissy set of words from a parent that day, and maybe you never talk to them again. This is not praise the lord forward this to everyone or die shit, but to remember that ONE SMALL PORTION of all my years lived could define me forever.
